Wedding Hair at Cathedral Rock wedding hair, on location
Red Rock Crossing, Oak Creek, and the trails below the spires. Styles built for the walk in, the wind, and sunrise light, done wherever you are staying.
Cathedral Rock is the image most people picture when they think of a Sedona elopement. Red spires, a wide sky, and Oak Creek winding along the base at Red Rock Crossing. It is wild, open, and unforgettable, and your hair has to be ready for all of it.
Whether you are saying vows with Cathedral Rock behind you, at the water’s edge at Crescent Moon, or somewhere along the creek that only your photographer knows about, I get you ready wherever you are staying and send you out the door with a style built for the trail, the wind, and the light.
Getting ready for Cathedral Rock
Where we set up
There is no bridal suite in the forest, so we get you ready at your hotel, resort, or vacation rental. The Village of Oak Creek and West Sedona are both close to the Cathedral Rock trailheads, which keeps your travel short.
Timing for the light
Most Cathedral Rock elopements are planned around sunrise or the last hour before sunset. Tell me your ceremony time and your drive and walk in time, and I schedule so you finish styling with room to spare.
Trail and access notes
Cathedral Rock and Red Rock Crossing are on national forest land. Expect a walk in, a parking pass, and no decor. Your photographer or officiant usually handles permits and the exact spot. I handle hair that survives the hike.
Ready by time
For sunrise ceremonies, styling often starts before 7:00 AM. That is completely doable and one of my favorite ways to work. An early morning fee applies to starts before 7:00 AM.
Styles that suit the red rocks
This is not the place for a fragile style. The trails are exposed, the wind picks up in the afternoon, and you may be walking a trail in a dress. I build looks that stay beautiful through all of that: textured low updos, braided details, secured half up styles, and soft waves set for hold rather than left loose.
Many of my elopement brides want something that feels like them on a great day, not a formal bridal updo. Effortless waves with a few pinned pieces, a loose romantic knot, or a braid that catches the light all photograph beautifully against the red rock and hold up on the walk back to the car.
Pricing for Cathedral Rock elopements
Getting ready locations within Sedona proper and the Village of Oak Creek include on location service with no travel fee. Services beginning before 7:00 AM carry an early morning fee of $100.
Common questions from elopement brides
Do you hike to the ceremony spot?
I style you at your getting ready location and send you off camera ready. If you would like me on site for touch ups at the trailhead or after the walk in, ask and I will quote it.
It is just the two of us. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Bride only bookings are a big part of what I do in Sedona. Elopements get the same care as a full wedding.
Sunrise means a very early start. Can you do that?
Yes. Sunrise at Cathedral Rock is worth it. Just note the early morning fee for starts before 7:00 AM.
What about wind and heat?
I choose styles and products for hold and finish everything for the conditions. Clean, completely dry hair on the morning of the wedding gives the style the best chance of lasting.
